WASHINGTON DC: The United States has taken a decisive step in its battle against the opioid epidemic by imposing visa restrictions on 13 individuals linked to an Indian pharmaceutical company.

According to the US State Department, these individuals are associated with a firm that has allegedly played a role in the illicit trade of fentanyl precursor chemicals. By blocking entry to these associates, the US government is signaling a more aggressive approach toward international suppliers of materials used in synthetic drug production.

The individuals targeted include key employees and managers who the US claims were complicit in the distribution of chemicals to criminal organizations.

This development marks a significant point of tension and cooperation in the US-India relationship, as both nations work to secure pharmaceutical supply chains. US officials emphasized that these sanctions are part of a wider effort to dismantle the logistics of the global fentanyl trade, which continues to pose a severe public health threat in the United States.
