Iran Warns of Wider Trade Disruption as Global Tensions Rise

Tehran: Iran has warned it may block trade routes through the Red Sea, the Gulf, and the Sea of Oman if the United States continues its blockade of Iranian ports and shipping. Iranian officials say the US move could violate the ceasefire and escalate tensions further.

At the same time, clashes have resumed between Israel and the Iran-backed group Hezbollah, just a day after peace talks between Israel and Lebanon in Washington.

Elsewhere, global developments continue to unfold. An international donors’ conference on Sudan’s civil war is being held in Berlin, while a school shooting in southern Turkey has left at least four people dead.

In Europe, a new German online tool is helping people check whether their ancestors were linked to the Nazi Party.

Meanwhile, former US President Donald Trump has again criticised Pope Leo over his stance on the Iran war and US immigration policies.

In Asia, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, where both sides praised strong cooperation between their countries.

On a lighter note, Brazil’s first official tartan has been unveiled in Scotland ahead of the upcoming men’s football World Cup — designed by a six-year-old schoolgirl.
