Trump: Iran Sending 20 Oil Tankers Through Hormuz Strait

U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States carried out extensive military strikes while simultaneously engaging in negotiations with Iran, during remarks to journalists aboard Air Force One en route to Joint Base Andrews.

“We destroyed many, many targets today. It was a big day,” Trump said, adding that both naval and air forces were involved in the operations.

The president emphasized that diplomatic efforts are ongoing alongside military action, noting, “We are negotiating with them directly and indirectly… I would only say that we’re doing extremely well in that negotiation.”

Trump also claimed that Iran had agreed to allow oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as a gesture of goodwill. “They gave us… big, big boats of oil… going through the Hormuz Strait, and that’s taking place starting tomorrow morning,” he said.

Reflecting on past U.S. policy, Trump reiterated his criticism of the nuclear agreement negotiated under Barack Obama, calling it “probably the worst deal we’ve ever done,” and added, “I terminated [it]… otherwise, right now, they’d have a nuclear weapon.”

The president suggested that recent developments in Iran amount to a shift in leadership dynamics. “I think we’ve had regime change… we’re dealing with different people than anybody’s dealt with before,” he said, describing the current group as “much more reasonable.”

Despite the escalation, Trump expressed optimism about a potential agreement. “I think we’ll make a deal with them, pretty sure… I do see a deal,” he told reporters, while cautioning that uncertainty remains.

In addition to foreign policy remarks, Trump briefly discussed plans for a new ballroom at the White House, stating the project is “ahead of schedule and under budget” and funded privately without government money.
