Kuwait, EU Discuss Regional Security and Defence Cooperation

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defence, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Mishal Al-Sabah, received the European Union Special Envoy for the Gulf region, Luigi Di Maio, at the Ministry of Defence headquarters on Wednesday, during his official visit to Kuwait.

The EU delegation also included the EU Ambassador to Kuwait, Ann Kuistinen.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the latest regional developments, particularly the ongoing military escalation in the region and its implications for regional and international security and stability.

The discussions also focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Kuwait and the European Union, especially in defence and security fields, with an emphasis on enhancing coordination to address current regional challenges.

Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Mishal Al-Sabah reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with the European Union, praising the level of existing cooperation and stressing the importance of continued dialogue and coordination on issues of mutual concern.

The meeting was attended by senior defence and government officials, including Major General Khalifa Duaij Al-Sabah, Head of Armament and Supply Authority, Dr. Wael Nasser Al-Sabah, Assistant Undersecretary for Support Services Affairs, along with representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
