Seoul: South Korea has activated an emergency economic response as the global energy crisis continues to strain fuel supplies across Asia.
President Lee Jae-myung announced the measures on Thursday, urging citizens to adopt simple energy-saving habits such as using public transport and cutting electricity consumption.
He also called on gas stations to comply with government-imposed oil price caps on refinery supply, while encouraging nationwide efforts to reduce power usage.
The government is working to keep electricity prices stable, with the country’s sole power provider remaining under state control.
