Shehbaz Sharif urges de-escalation in call with Saudi Crown Prince

Karachi: Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation on Wednesday with Mohammed bin Salman, calling for an immediate end to hostilities and a return to stability amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, Sharif strongly condemned recent attacks on Saudi Arabia and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the Kingdom and its people.
He also praised the Saudi leadership for its restraint during the ongoing crisis, assuring continued support from Pakistan. “Pakistan will always stand by the Kingdom and its brotherly people, just as they have supported us through thick and thin,” the statement said.
Sharif stressed the urgent need for de-escalation, urging all sides to halt hostilities and restore regional stability. He also highlighted the importance of unity within the Muslim Ummah, calling for collective efforts to address the crisis.
During the call, the prime minister briefed the crown prince on Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach to various stakeholders aimed at promoting dialogue and peaceful resolution of differences.
The crown prince appreciated Pakistan’s efforts toward peace, with both leaders agreeing to maintain close coordination at all levels.
In a separate post on X, Sharif extended Eid-ul-Fitr greetings to Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the royal family and the people of Saudi Arabia, while reiterating Pakistan’s condemnation of attacks on the Kingdom and the need for unity among Muslim nations.
The conversation comes against the backdrop of escalating regional tensions involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
