Abu Dhabi: Rainfall swept across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and other parts of the UAE on Saturday as a low-pressure system moved through the region, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
The unstable weather brought convective cloud formation over scattered areas, along with fresh to strong winds that stirred dust and sand, reducing visibility in some locations between 8am and 8pm. Showers were also reported in Sharjah, with rainfall affecting key areas including Al Majaz.
Authorities warned that the changing weather conditions could impact road safety, with reduced visibility and occasional thunder and lightning expected in several regions.
The Ministry of Interior (MOI) issued a safety advisory urging residents and motorists to remain cautious. Drivers have been advised to reduce speed, stay alert, and avoid flooded areas, fast-moving water streams, and beaches. Residents are also cautioned to stay away from the sea during rough conditions.
Abu Dhabi Police echoed the warning, calling on motorists to follow variable speed limits displayed on electronic boards and exercise extra care while driving.
Officials stressed the importance of adhering to safety guidelines to ensure the wellbeing of the community during the unstable weather conditions.
