Trump Signals Possible Wind-Down of U.S. Military Efforts in Middle East
U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that the United States is nearing its strategic objectives in the Middle East, indicating a potential winding down of military operations related to Iran.
In a statement, Trump outlined key goals achieved or nearing completion, including the degradation of Iran’s missile capabilities, destruction of its defense industrial base, and the dismantling of its naval and air forces, along with anti-aircraft systems.
He emphasized that a central U.S. priority remains preventing Iran from developing nuclear capabilities, while maintaining readiness to respond swiftly and decisively to any future threats.
Trump also stressed the importance of protecting U.S. allies in the region, specifically naming Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Kuwait.
Addressing maritime security, Trump said the responsibility for safeguarding the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz should fall primarily on nations that rely on it, rather than the United States. However, he noted that the U.S. would offer assistance if requested.
He added that once Iran’s threat is neutralized, regional countries would be capable of managing security in the area independently, describing such efforts as achievable and straightforward.
