The UAE Ministry of Defence said the country’s air force and air defence systems have intercepted large numbers of missiles and drones since the start of the Iranian attacks on February 28.
In a statement, the ministry said air defences have so far dealt with 165 ballistic missiles, two cruise missiles and 541 Iranian drones targeting the United Arab Emirates.
During the second morning of the attacks, UAE forces destroyed 20 ballistic missiles, while eight missiles fell into the sea. The ministry also said two cruise missiles and 311 drones were intercepted, and that 21 drones struck civilian locations.
Overall, the ministry said 152 of the 165 ballistic missiles detected were intercepted, with 13 falling into the sea. Both cruise missiles were destroyed. Of the 541 drones tracked, 506 were intercepted and destroyed, while 35 landed inside the country, causing material damage.
The incidents resulted in three deaths, among Pakistani, Nepali and Bangladeshi nationals and 58 minor injuries involving people of several nationalities.
The ministry said debris from intercepted missiles and drones fell in different parts of the country, causing minor to moderate damage to civilian properties.
It added that the armed forces remain fully prepared to respond to any threats and stressed that the safety of citizens, residents and visitors remains the top priority. The public was urged to rely only on official sources and avoid circulating rumours or unverified information.
