Macron Tells Meloni to “Stay in Her Lane”
President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday urged Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to refrain from commenting on developments within France, following her remarks on the fatal beating of a far-right activist.
Speaking in New Delhi during an official visit to India, Macron said leaders should focus on their own national matters.
“Let everyone stay in their own lane,” he stated.
The exchange came after Meloni described the killing of Quentin Deranque as “a wound for all of Europe,” expressing shock over the incident. Her comments drew a firm response from the French president, who emphasized that internal matters should be addressed domestically.
The incident has sparked political reactions across Europe, highlighting tensions over cross-border commentary on national issues.
