New Delhi: A police constable in India’s Rajasthan was dismissed from service after a video showing wanted criminals attending his wedding went viral on social media.

According to official sources, Constable Ashok Bishnoi was accused of inviting history-sheeters and smugglers to his wedding celebrations held on February 1 and 2 in Nagaur, around 500 km from Jhalawar, where he was posted.

The video, which circulated widely online, shows at least eight known criminals dancing and showering currency notes during the celebrations. Several of the individuals seen in the footage are reportedly active in parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

Confirming the action taken, police said the constable had been dismissed from duty following allegations of his association with criminals, and a formal enquiry was initiated.

The matter came to light after police received a confidential complaint alleging that multiple wanted offenders were present at the wedding. Subsequent verification through CCTV footage reportedly confirmed the attendance of individuals with serious criminal records.

Among those identified were Pappu Tanwar, accused of encroaching on forest department land and constructing an illegal house, and Ramesh Lal, who is facing two separate cases under the NDPS Act. Police officials said the enquiry is ongoing and further action will be taken based on its findings.
