West Bank Violence Claims Teen’s Life

A 14-year-old Palestinian boy was killed by Israeli gunfire in the occupied West Bank on Sunday, according to Palestinian health authorities, amid a series of separate incidents that also left an Israeli and another Palestinian wounded.

Islam Ahmad Maher Ajouri was shot in the chest during an Israeli military raid on the Askar refugee camp near Nablus, according to Palestinian officials and the Palestinian Red Crescent. He was pronounced dead at a hospital in Nablus. The Israeli military said it was verifying the report.

In a separate incident in Al-Auja, an Israeli man was moderately wounded in a stabbing attack, according to Israeli authorities, who said a suspect was apprehended. The Israeli military also said forces opened fire on a man near Taybeh after he allegedly attempted to take a weapon from a soldier. Palestinian sources said the man was wounded in the foot.

Violence has increased across the West Bank since the outbreak of the Gaza war following Hamas's October 2023 attack on Israel. According to an AFP tally based on Palestinian health ministry data, at least 1,100 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli soldiers or settlers since then, while Israeli figures say at least 48 Israelis have been killed in Palestinian attacks or during Israeli military operations.
