Israel Warns Hamas Over Kite Launches from Gaza

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz issued the joint warning following a top-level security assessment on Sunday. Israeli authorities reported recovering around 10 non-explosive kites near border communities in recent days.
The military suspects Hamas launched the devices to test Israel's response, raising concerns over a potential return of incendiary aerial tactics. Previous kite and balloon waves from Gaza triggered major agricultural fires across southern Israel.
Hamas denied responsibility, with political bureau member Bassem Naim asserting the kites were flown by children amid Gaza's rubble. The group accused Israel of leveraging the incidents as a pretext for new military actions.
Gaza's civil defence rescue service reported three people killed in Israeli airstrikes in central Gaza shortly after the border warnings.
