New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to host French President Emmanuel Macron in Mumbai on 17 February 2026, marking a key moment in the deepening India–France strategic partnership. President Macron’s three-day official visit to India, from 17–19 February, also coincides with India’s hosting of the AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, a major global technology forum.
The leaders will convene bilateral discussions at Lok Bhavan, Mumbai, in the mid-afternoon where they are expected to review the progress made in the India–France Strategic Partnership. Their talks are anticipated to broaden cooperation into emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, advanced technologies, defence collaboration, and innovation ecosystems.
Later in the evening, Mr. Modi and President Macron will formally launch the India–France Year of Innovation 2026 a year-long initiative aimed at strengthening ties in science, research, startups, business collaboration and cultural exchange. The event will bring together entrepreneurs, innovators, academia and industry leaders from both countries.
President Macron’s visit underscores a sustained expansion of bilateral ties that spans strategic and defence cooperation, space and civil nuclear collaboration, climate action, and people-to-people exchanges. Both nations have increasingly aligned on technology governance, including frameworks for ethical AI deployment.
Following their Mumbai engagements, the French President and Prime Minister Modi will travel to New Delhi for the AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled from 16–20 February. The summit, the first of its kind hosted in the Global South, is expected to convene world leaders, top technology executives and policymakers to explore the practical impact and governance of artificial intelligence globally.
The visit reflects growing momentum in India–France relations, with both sides set to reaffirm their commitment to expanding strategic cooperation and exploring new avenues for technological, economic and cultural partnership amid shifting global dynamics.
