Women Driving Bahrain’s Financial Technology Growth
Bahraini women are playing an increasingly important role in the development of Bahrain’s financial technology sector, according to Benefit Chief Executive Officer Abdulwahed Al Janaahi.
Marking the silver jubilee of the Supreme Council for Women, Al Janaahi said the past 25 years had seen significant progress in women’s professional participation and leadership, supported by policies and initiatives that have expanded opportunities across different sectors.
He said the financial and banking industries, particularly fintech, benefited from the growing participation of Bahraini women in technical and specialised roles.
“Bahraini women have demonstrated their competence in developing electronic payment systems, credit information services, data management and digital platforms,” Al Janaahi said.
He added that these areas have become essential parts of Bahrain’s financial infrastructure and the country’s wider digital transformation.
Al Janaahi said Benefit is proud of the contribution made by its female employees to the company’s services and national projects, and will continue developing their technical and managerial capabilities.
He also highlighted the work of the company’s Equal Opportunities Committee in supporting training, career progression and access to leadership positions based on competence and merit.
According to Al Janaahi, greater female participation in digital innovation and decision-making will be important as financial services continue to evolve.
He said Benefit will maintain a workplace environment that enables Bahraini women to apply their expertise, develop new solutions, and take on greater responsibilities in the fintech sector.
He added that the company’s approach aims to support the continued growth of Bahrain’s digital economy while strengthening the role of national talent in shaping the future of financial services.
