55 Military Personnel Killed in US Raid That Captured Maduro
Caracas:Venezuela’s interim leader Delcy Rodriguez insisted Tuesday that no foreign power is running the country, even as US President Donald Trump said Caracas will soon transfer millions of barrels of oil to the United States. Speaking three days after US forces captured Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Rodriguez said, “The government of Venezuela is in charge in our country, and no one else.” Trump, however, insists Washington is “in charge” and has demanded access to Venezuela’s vast oil reserves, announcing plans for 30–50 million barrels to be sold to the US at market price to benefit both nations. Rodriguez has alternated between defiance and overtures toward cooperation, while also paying tribute to those killed during the operation and asserting Venezuelan resilience.
