A man from Shivamogga district in Karnataka, India, has captured global attention with an extraordinary claim: he survives not on regular food, but on engine oil and tea.
Nicknamed “Oil Kumar,” the man recently gained viral fame after a video surfaced on Instagram showing him refusing conventional meals offered by onlookers. Instead, he lifts a plastic bottle filled with what he says is black motor oil and drinks it effortlessly.
According to the viral post, Kumar has reportedly followed this unusual diet for over three decades. The video caption reads, “For the past 33 years, Shivamogga’s Oil Kumar has amazed the world by living without food. His daily intake includes 7–8 litres of waste engine oil and tea instead of rice or chapati.”
The claim has left social media users stunned, with many expressing skepticism while others have turned the story into memes and jokes, describing him as “fuelled for life.” Despite the potential health risks, reports indicate that Kumar has never required hospitalisation or experienced major health problems.
