Turkish Airlines Wins Three Prestigious Aircraft Financing Awards

Turkish Airlines has further cemented its leadership in the aviation finance sector, receiving three top awards at the Airline Economics Aviation 100 European & Sustainability Awards held in London.

The airline was recognized for its innovative and strategic approach to aircraft financing, which includes diversifying its global financing network and implementing structures designed to reduce currency risks and achieve cost advantages.

Turkish Airlines won the “European Overall Deal of the Year” award for an Islamic finance lease in Swiss francs for one Airbus A350 aircraft, arranged with Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB). The airline also secured the “European Supported Finance Deal of the Year” for financing two Airbus A350 aircraft under a Balthazar-guaranteed JOLCO structure in Japanese yen, in partnership with Natixis and ORIX. This deal underscores Turkish Airlines’ growing presence in the Japanese market since 2007.

Adding to its accolades, the carrier received the “Sustainability Aviation Overall Deal of the Year” award for a sustainability-linked JOLCO financing of two Airbus A321neo aircraft in 2024. The deal, arranged by a Societe Generale-led consortium in Euro and Japanese yen, reflects the airline’s commitment to integrating sustainability into its financing strategy.

Commenting on the achievement, Turkish Airlines Chief Financial Officer and Board Member Associate Prof. Murat Şeker said,
"We are honored to be recognized with three international awards this year. These awards reflect the dedication of the Turkish Airlines family and the innovative financing solutions developed by our team. They stand as a testament to the financial strength and strategic vision of our brand. We remain committed to pursuing sustainable growth with determination."

Turkish Airlines’ finance team, known for its expertise in a wide range of aircraft financing structures, consistently achieves some of the lowest financing costs in the industry. Since 2009, the airline has earned numerous accolades from globally recognized organizations, including Global Transport Finance, Airline Economics, Airfinance Journal, and Bonds, Loans & Sukuk Turkey. Over the last decade, Turkish Airlines has won 30 international aircraft finance awards, with successful transactions totaling approximately $16 billion.
