PM Shaikh Mohammed Denounces Israeli Attack on Qatari Soil as “State Terrorism”
Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani has condemned Israel’s recent attack on Qatari territory, calling for decisive international action to stop what he described as “arrogance and continued crimes against humanity” fueled by double standards.
Speaking at the Preparatory Ministerial Meeting for the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit on the Israeli attack, Sheikh Mohammed said the airstrike carried out last Tuesday on Qatari soil represented “an act of arrogance and recklessness” that violated the sovereignty of a United Nations member state, a mediator in the peace process, and a member of both the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League.
“This aggression constitutes a dangerous escalation that threatens regional peace, security, and stability, and undermines all efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East,” he stressed.
The Prime Minister expressed Qatar’s appreciation for the solidarity shown by Arab, Islamic, and friendly countries in response to the attack, which targeted the residences of several members of the Hamas Political Bureau in Doha on September 9. The strike, which hit a residential area including homes, schools, kindergartens, and diplomatic missions, resulted in the martyrdom of a security officer and caused civilian casualties.
Sheikh Mohammed described the attack as “state terrorism” carried out by Israel’s extremist government, warning that such actions flagrantly violate international law, humanitarian norms, and diplomatic standards.
He emphasized that the strike occurred while Qatar was hosting official, announced negotiations aimed at achieving a ceasefire in Gaza and securing the release of prisoners and hostages – talks that Israel was aware of. “Instead of supporting these efforts, Israel launched an airstrike on a residential compound housing members of the Hamas negotiating team. This was not merely a targeted attack but an assault on the principle of mediation itself,” he said.
The Prime Minister warned that such aggression undermines efforts to achieve calm and demonstrates Israel’s rejection of peaceful solutions to the Palestinian issue. He highlighted repeated statements from Israeli officials on annexing Palestinian territories and the vision of a “Greater Israel” as evidence of this intent.
Sheikh Mohammed also criticized the international community for failing to hold Israel accountable, noting that the absence of consequences encourages further violations. He reiterated that Qatar will not tolerate threats to its sovereignty or national security and will respond using all measures permitted under international law.
“The attack on Qatar’s sovereignty constitutes a clear violation of Article 2 of the United Nations Charter, including the prohibition of force against the territorial integrity and political independence of states. It also breaches diplomatic, ethical, and humanitarian standards. This is not a passing incident but a dangerous precedent that must be confronted with strength and resolve,” he said.
He concluded by denouncing Israel’s actions as “devoid of humanity” and a warning that the country recognizes no red lines in its conduct, continuing to destabilize nations and undermine diplomatic efforts that conflict with its agenda.
