Iran Works to Prevent New Sanctions Amid Nuclear Deal Tensions

Iran said Tuesday it is taking all possible measures to avoid a return of sanctions that European powers have threatened under the stalled 2015 nuclear deal.
“Our focus is on preventing actions or incidents that could be costly for the country,” said Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei during a weekly press briefing. He added that Iran is “negotiating with all our might” ahead of planned talks with Britain, France, and Germany.
The discussions come as European nations signal concerns over Iran’s nuclear program, raising the possibility of reinstating sanctions if progress is not made.
