Drydocks World, Dubai’s original shipyard and a part of DP World, has launched a unique campaign inviting the public to name the largest floating crane in the Middle East and Africa.
Weighing a massive 5,000 tonnes, the floating crane is a true engineering marvel. Once completed, it will be able to lift the equivalent of 400 double-decker buses or 25 wide-body aircraft. With a reach of 180 meters, it could rival some of Dubai’s tallest buildings in height.
DP World is encouraging people to take part in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to name the giant structure—offering participants the chance to "win big" through the naming competition.
The floating crane is currently under construction by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (ZPMC), with its arrival expected in Dubai by the summer of 2026. But before it hits the water, it needs a name that will stay with it for generations.
Officials say the competition is open to all and are hoping for a name that reflects the strength, innovation, and ambition of the region.
