Arab Leaders Call for Urgent International Support to Rebuild Gaza at Baghdad Summit
Arab leaders have appealed to the global community for immediate financial backing to support their comprehensive plan to reconstruct the war-torn Gaza Strip. The call came during the closing session of the Arab League summit held in Baghdad on Saturday.
In the summit's final communiqué, member states urged “countries and international and regional financial institutions to provide prompt financial support” to help implement the Arab League's Gaza reconstruction initiative.
The renewed push for aid follows comments from U.S. President Donald Trump, who recently reiterated a controversial proposal involving a potential U.S.-led takeover of Palestinian territories, including Gaza — a suggestion that has drawn widespread criticism across the Arab world.
The Baghdad summit underscored Arab unity in rejecting any external imposition on Palestinian sovereignty and emphasized the importance of regional collaboration in addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Leaders stressed that sustainable reconstruction and development in Gaza can only be achieved through coordinated international efforts and respect for Palestinian rights and self-determination.
