Chaos erupted inside a New Mexico courtroom when the uncle of a murdered woman launched a physical attack on the suspect accused of taking her life.

Alexander Ortiz, who stands accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend, Alianna Farfan, and another woman just a week later, was appearing before a judge in Albuquerque when tensions boiled over.

Carlos Lucero, Farfan’s uncle, was seen leaping over the courtroom barrier before tackling Ortiz to the ground and delivering a flurry of punches. Moments later, Farfan’s father also joined in, landing blows on Ortiz before court security intervened.

Witnesses described the courtroom as descending into chaos as officers rushed in to restore order. Ortiz, already in custody for the alleged crimes, sustained visible injuries before being pulled away from the enraged family members.

Lucero, who was detained following the attack, reportedly told police, "He killed my niece like a coward... [the attack] was worth every moment."
Authorities are now reviewing the incident, and it remains unclear if Lucero or Farfan’s father will face charges for the courtroom outburst.

Ortiz has been charged with multiple counts of murder and remains behind bars as his legal proceedings continue.
Court officials have since announced heightened security measures for future hearings related to the case.
