Sultanate of Oman hosts INCONET-GCC2

Activities of the EU-GCC Science and Technology International Cooperation Network (INCONET-GCC2), International Conference on Collaboration for Innovation Linking Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and EU will begin Monday under the auspices of Talal bin Sulaiman al-Rahbi, Deputy Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Planning (SCP).
The two-day conference, hosted by the Sultanate, represented by The Research Council (TRC) with broad GCC and European participation, aims at enhancing technology and means of cooperation and communication, exchanging ideas and experiences in fields of science and technology between the GCC countries and European Union (EU), as well as finding new markers for investing innovative ideas, according to Oman News Agency (ONA).

The conference comes as part of the European Commission initiative, which aims at providing those concerned with scientific research in the EU countries and GCC states with the opportunity to exchange viewpoints on areas of science.

The conference will discuss international cooperation, strategies and programmes, as well as prospects of 2020 opportunities and support services for GCC countries, main challenges in EU-GCC research and innovation cooperation and ways to overcome the hurdles.

The conference will also discuss research and innovation in energy, smart and health cities, current achievements and success stories in EU-GCC cooperation, ONA reported.
