Turkish Airlines Orders 75 New Boeing Aircraft to Expand Fleet and Global Reach

Turkish Airlines, the national flag carrier of Türkiye, has announced a major expansion of its fleet, adding 75 new wide-body Boeing aircraft by 2034 as part of its strategic growth plans. The order includes 50 confirmed and 25 optional Boeing 787-9 and 787-10 planes.

The airline is also finalizing deals for engines with Rolls-Royce and GE Aerospace, and has completed negotiations with Boeing for up to 150 Boeing 737-8/10 MAX aircraft, pending engine supplier approvals.

This move highlights the long-standing partnership between Turkish Airlines and Boeing, as well as the growing aviation ties between Türkiye and the United States. It supports the airline’s “Vision 2033,” aiming to expand its fleet beyond 800 aircraft, with next-generation planes making up 90% of the fleet by 2033 and 100% by 2035.

Prof. Ahmet Bolat, Turkish Airlines Chairman, said the new aircraft will improve operational efficiency, support long-haul connectivity, and boost Türkiye’s tourism by making it easier for visitors to explore the country.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes President Stephanie Pope expressed pride in Turkish Airlines’ continued trust in Boeing, calling it a partnership spanning 80 years.

Currently, Turkish Airlines operates over 200 Boeing aircraft, including 787-9, 777, and 737 MAX models. The new 787-10 Dreamliners will increase passenger and cargo capacity, reduce operating costs with 25% better fuel efficiency, and strengthen routes to the United States, Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
