BOC hails Jiu Jitsu team’s achievement

Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) secretary general Mohammed Al Nusuf has extended his congratulations to members of Bahrain’s national jiu jitsu team, after their recent success at the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship held recently in the UAE capital between April 23 and 26.

The nationals made the nation proud, taking home clinching four medals in total (3 gold, 1 bronze), after a fiercely-contested battle with some of the region’s best martial arts athletes. Seena Monfaradi (52kg), Mohammed Abu Idris (69kg) and Nejid Algosaibi (77kg) took one gold medal apiece for Bahrain, while Sogra Mubarak (70kg) captured the bronze. At his meeting with the visiting delegation members and Bahrain Martial Arts Federation president Ahmed Al Khayyat, Al Nusuf congratulated the team on this achievement, which reflects the developed level of the Bahraini athletes in martial arts sports.

“We have been overwhelmed with the team’s recent results in Abu Dhabi, which followed an impressive appearance at the South Asian Open Championship in India, where our athletes took 7 medals in total, which reflects the well-planned strategy of the association in preparing its teams,” said Al Nusuf. “I also must refer to the determination and high spirit of our athletes to keep our nation’s flag high in different sporting events.

We hope that such achievements would motivate the players to keep their top form and compete on a higher level”. The BOC secretary general expressed confidence in this team to continue their successful run at regional and international competition, and wished the team progress.
