Bahrain have announced their squad for the second edition of the Arab U17 Men's Volleyball Championship, with head coach Yusuf Khalifa selecting a 15-player roster for the regional tournament hosted by the kingdom.
The Bahrain Volleyball Association (BVA) unveiled the squad yesterday as the national team continues preparations for the competition, which will be held at the Isa bin Rashid Volleyball Arena at Isa Sports City in Riffa from August 9 to 17.
Khalifa will be assisted by coach Mohammed Salman as Bahrain aim to challenge for honours on home soil against five other participating nations: Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Algeria and Egypt.
The selected squad features Sayed Hasan Alabbar, Ebrahim Alhammar, Hadi Mahmood, Abdulla Aljaboori, Karrar Ahmed, Ahmed AlKhabbaz, Abbas Fadhel, Ammar Yousif, Nasrallah Tah, Mustafa Fadhel, Mohammed Haram, Hussain Albalooshi, Mohammed Abdulaziz, Hadi Hussain and Ali Hassan.
Bahrain enter the tournament after gaining valuable international experience at the AVC Boys’ U18 Volleyball Championship 2026 in Haikou, China, last month, where they finished 12th among 16 participating teams.
The nationals will be looking to improve on their performance from the inaugural Arab youth championship in 2024, where they claimed the silver medal in Amman, Jordan. Saudi Arabia won the gold medal on that occasion.
The Arab U17 Men's Volleyball Championship will feature a single round-robin format, with each team facing the other five participating nations. Bahrain will begin their campaign against Algeria on August 9 at 7pm before meeting Jordan at the same time the following day.
They will then face Kuwait on August 12, Saudi Arabia on August 14, and Egypt on August 16, with all of Bahrain’s matches scheduled for 7pm.
