Seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton claimed his first victory for Ferrari on Sunday, winning the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona and ending a 686-day wait for a race victory.

Starting from second on the grid, Hamilton delivered a composed and strategic drive to defeat pole-sitter George Russell of Mercedes. A well-timed Virtual Safety Car period proved decisive, allowing the Ferrari driver to pit for fresh tyres and emerge ahead of Russell before controlling the race to the finish.

The victory marks a major milestone in Hamilton’s second season with Ferrari, where he has repeatedly expressed confidence in the team's progress and his growing comfort with the car.

An all-British podium completed a memorable day for British motorsport, with Russell finishing second and Lando Norris securing third place for McLaren. It was the first all-British Formula One podium since 1968.

Hamilton’s triumph follows consecutive runner-up finishes in Monaco and Montreal and sees him surpass the record of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher for the most victories at the Barcelona circuit.

The race also saw a setback for championship leader Kimi Antonelli, whose streak of five consecutive wins came to an end after his Mercedes stopped on track with just four laps remaining. The retirement allowed Hamilton to reduce the gap at the top of the championship standings to 41 points.

An emotional Hamilton thanked his team and supporters after the race, saying they had helped him achieve a long-held dream and played a key role in his return to the top step of the podium.

The victory represents one of the most significant moments of Hamilton’s Ferrari career so far and reignites his challenge for a record eighth Formula One world title.
