Al Najma Drawn in “Group of Death”

The draw for the 28th Asian Men’s Club League Handball Championship has placed Bahrain’s A -Najma in a daunting Group B, setting up a challenging path against Saudi Arabia’s Al Khaleej, hosts Kuwait SC, and Qatar’s Al Arabi.

With only the top two teams from each group advancing, Al Najma find themselves in what many are already calling a “group of death”.

Group A also promises high-level competition, featuring the UAE’s Sharjah, Kuwait’s Burgan SC, China’s representative side, and Qatar’s Al-Duhail.

The championship will be held in Kuwait City from June 6 to June 16, 2026, after being relocated from Saudi Arabia. Organized by the Asian Handball Federation, The championship also doubles as qualification for the 19th IHF Men’s Handball Club World Championship, adding significance to every fixture.

Al Najma will lean on their strong continental pedigree as they return to the competition, having previously lifted the title twice in 2017 and 2023. But with heavyweights and home advantage stacked against them in Group B, repeating past glory will require one of their most disciplined campaigns yet.
