Strong competitions at the launch of HM the King’s Cup Festival and thrilling conclusion of Bahrain Turf Series Manama Under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Cup Festival launched at the Rashid Equestrian & Horseracing Club (REHC) racecourse in Al Raffa, Sakhir, with the Festival taking place over two days, Thursday and Friday, April 2 and 3.
The first day of HM the King’s Cup Festival witnessed strong and exciting competitions, with the participation of elite horses from Bahraini and international stables. These horses engaged in a thrilling battle to win the cups across eight races in the season’s premier equestrian event. The second day is set to feature peak competition, with HM The King’s Cups for Arabian, imported, and Bahraini-bred horses.
The first day of the festival also included the conclusion of the fifth edition of Bahrain Turf Series, with the sixth and final round taking place, featuring a large number of Bahraini and international horses.
The winners of the final round of the Bahrain Turf Series were crowned, as His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, presented the Al Fateh Cup, sponsored by Bapco Energies, to the winning owner’s representative, Philippa Mains, in addition to presenting awards to the winning trainer’s representative, Ali Al Shuwaikh, and the winning jockey, Stephane Ladjadj.
Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa received the International Handicap Cup from Mr. Ghanesh Bligh, who also presented awards to the winning trainer, Daniel and Claire Kubler, and the winning jockey, Ebrahim Nader.
His Highness Shaikh Sultan Al Deen bin Mohammed bin Salman Al Khalifa received the second round trophy from Mr. Isa Kanoo, Board Member of Ebrahim Khalil Kanoo Company, the third round trophy from Mr. Jurrien Bongers, General Manager of the Sheraton Bahrain Hotel, and the fourth round trophy from Mr. Mohammed Shirazi, Managing Director of Bahrain Jewellery Centre.
Mr. Khalid Taqi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gulf Air Group, presented the first round trophy to the winning trainer, Adel Abdulla, while Shaikh Salman bin Rashid Al Khalifa, REHC’s High Committee Representative for International Racing, presented the seventh round trophy to the winning owner, Mohammed Khalid Abdulrahim, and Mr. Ebrahim Faisal Al Malki, Director of Media and Communications at REHC, presented the eighth round trophy to the winning owner, Abdulla Fawzi Nass.
The racing evening featured strong competitions across all eight races.
