Favourite Potentate bags the race

The favourite Potentate owned by Al Nasseriyeh, trained by Allan Smith and ridden by Brett Doyle won the seventh race for one of the two richest races for the Al Salam Bank Cup for imported three years and upwards over 1,600 metres and worth BD6,000 in the tenth meeting of the season yesterday at the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club in Sakhir.

Coming three lengths behind was Bartack owned by Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Isa Al Khalifa, trained by Abdulla Kuwaiti and ridden by Alberto Sanna, with third place going to second favourite Empiricist ridden by Abdulla Faisal with Marhaba Malyoon ridden by P Convertino a further two and a half lengths behind in fourth.

In the sixth race for the ASRY Cup featuring locally bred three years and upwards over 1,600 metres and worth BD 6,000, second favourite Wayne Looney owned by H and R Stables, trained by Allan Smith and ridden by Brett Doyle came in first.

Second place went to favourite Harash owned by Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, trained by James Naylor and ridden by Alberto Sanna, a further short head behind in third was Rising Sun ridden by Tristan Normand with First Mate ridden by Duran Fentiman in fourth.

Race 1: ALBA Cup for locally bred 2nd, 3rd, 4th and maiden  classes 3 years and upwards. 1,000m straight BD2,500.

Race 2: ALBA Cup for locally bred maidens 3 years and upwards. 2,000m BD2,500. 

1) Injaz/P Convertino, 2) Al Jolan/A Sanna, 3) Urum Et Unicum/Andrew Elliott, 4) Ghost/Ali Hassan.

Race 3: Southern Governorate Cup for 3rd, 4th and maiden classes Arabian Horses 3 years and upwards. 1,600m BD3,000.
