The 26th Annual AMH Island Classic Charity Golf Tournament teed off in grand style at His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s private golf course in Saffriya, marking the start of three days of competitive play and camaraderie.

Held under the patronage of His Majesty the King, the tournament runs from October 30 to November 1, drawing golfers, VIPs, and business leaders to one of Bahrain’s most anticipated sporting charity events. The official opening ceremony was inaugurated at noon on Thursday by Mr. Mohammed Bahusain Al Musalam, Head of Private Follow-up Affairs at the Royal Court, in the presence of distinguished guests and participants.

Dr. George Cheriyan, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Medical Officer of American Mission Hospital, described the opening day as an exceptional start. “The spirit of friendly competition among golfers was truly inspiring,” he said. “Participants thoroughly enjoyed their game on the outstanding nine-hole course, and besides the Championship and Premier flights, there are several exciting side contests, including closest to the pin, most accurate drive, and longest putt.”

At the end of the first day, Team Mohammed Jalal 2 led the Championship Flight with a score of 51.3, followed by Black Hawk Delta (52.3) and Mohammed Jalal 1 (53.5). In the Premier Flight, Mahsoul topped the leaderboard with 52.2, ahead of Team Riffa (53.9) and Diplomat (54). Side contest winners included Aled Morris (RCSI 1) for closest to the pin, George Amuzu (Team Riffa) for most accurate drive, and Ali Al Kawari (Mohammed Jalal 2) for the longest putt.

The Island Classic continues through November 1, with proceeds supporting the charitable initiatives of American Mission Hospital.
