The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) has signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to strengthen sports cooperation with the Indonesian Olympic Committee and the Iranian Olympic Committee. The agreements were formalized on the sidelines of the 3rd Asian Youth Games “Bahrain 2025.”
The first MoU was signed by His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, on behalf of Bahrain, while Mr. Raja Sapta Oktohari, President of the Indonesian Olympic Committee, signed on behalf of Indonesia.
The second MoU was also signed by HH Shaikh Khalid on behalf of Bahrain, with Mr. Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa, President of the Iranian Olympic Committee, representing Iran.
The signing ceremony was attended by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee; Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, CEO of the General Sports Authority; and Mr. Fares Al Kooheji, Secretary-General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.
The agreements aim to enhance mutual cooperation in sports, administrative, and technical fields; promote the exchange of expertise; and facilitate the organization of joint training camps and programs. These efforts seek to elevate the performance of athletes and national teams across the three nations.
On this occasion, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa expressed his pride in signing the MoUs, emphasizing that the initiative reflects the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to strengthen Bahrain’s international sports relations and broaden collaboration with Asian Olympic committees.
HH Shaikh Khalid also commended the leadership and vision of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, for fostering stronger ties with brotherly and friendly nations to advance the regional sports movement.
“The signing of these MoUs highlights Bahrain’s growing prominence in the Asian sports arena and our commitment to sharing expertise with partner nations for the advancement of regional sports under the umbrella of the Olympic Council of Asia,” HH Shaikh Khalid said, extending his best wishes to both the Indonesian and Iranian Olympic Committees for continued success.
