Everton striker Iliman Ndiaye etched his name into the club’s history books over the weekend by scoring the very first goal at their brand-new 53,000-seat stadium in Liverpool. His strike came in a 2-0 Premier League win over Brighton, giving fans the perfect start in their new home.

For Ndiaye, the moment carried even more significance. Just a few months ago, the Senegal international scored the final goal at Everton’s old ground, Goodison Park, which had been the club’s home for 133 years.

Born in France, Ndiaye began his professional career at Sheffield United in 2019, before moving to Marseille for a season. He joined Everton last year, where he has quickly become a key player.

His weekend goal came after converting a cross from Jack Grealish at the far post, marking not only his first of the season but also an unforgettable milestone for the Toffees.

Other African Stars Shining in Europe

England

Dango Ouattara (Brentford): The Burkinabe forward made an instant impact on his debut after the club paid a record £42 million ($58m) for him. Ouattara scored the only goal in Brentford’s 1-0 win over Aston Villa, securing their first points of the season.

Ismaila Sarr (Crystal Palace): The Senegalese winger is off to a strong start. He scored in Palace’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest, adding to the goal he netted earlier this month in the Community Shield win over Liverpool.

Germany

Serhou Guirassy (Borussia Dortmund): The Guinea striker opened the scoring and later missed a penalty in a dramatic 3-3 draw with St Pauli. Despite Dortmund leading 3-1 late on, they conceded twice in the closing minutes and finished the game with 10 men.

Andreas Hountondji (St Pauli): On loan from Burnley, the Benin international scored his first goal for St Pauli with a header that leveled the match against Dortmund.

France

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Marseille): The 36-year-old Gabon striker returned to Marseille and delivered immediately. He scored twice, won a penalty, and even hit the post in a 5-2 win over Paris FC.

Frank Magri (Toulouse): The Cameroon forward struck both goals in a 2-0 victory over Brest, helping Toulouse secure back-to-back wins.
