The Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces have announced the graduation of their third group of personnel trained to operate the US-made Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile system. The training took place at Fort Bliss Military Base in El Paso, Texas.

This marks the continuation of a program that has already produced two earlier batches of Saudi specialists. The initiative aims to build a fully qualified team capable of operating and maintaining the THAAD system, one of the most advanced technologies in the world for intercepting short- and medium-range ballistic missiles.

During the course, Saudi officers and soldiers underwent intensive technical and operational training, including combat simulations and field exercises. The program was carried out with the support of American experts from the system’s manufacturing company, under the broader framework of military cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the United States.

Officials say the program reflects the Ministry of Defense’s commitment to strengthening the skills and readiness of its forces. It also supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals of modernizing the military and advancing local expertise in defense technology.

A graduation ceremony was held at Fort Bliss, attended by Maj. Gen. Khalid Al-Zahrani, commander of the 1st Air Defense Group, representing Lt. Gen. Mazyad Al-Amro, commander of the Air Defense Forces. US officials and training representatives were also present.
