Avneet wins under 14 title

Avneet Singh from India swept away his Bahraini opponent Faisal Yousef in just under 50 minutes with a comfortable 6-0, 6-1 straight sets victory to clinch the Boys 14 years and under singles title yesterday at the RJ Investment Holding Juniors Open Tennis Championship organised by the Bahrain Tennis Club at its premises in Juffair.

Avneet after holding the opening then broke his opponent in the second as he used his height and stronger serve to his advantage.

Faisal though in the third game had a chance to break his opponent but couldn’t press home the advantage chance and it was a similar story in the fourth with Avneet holding advantage on three occasions to Faisal’s one and winning a second break.

The set was soon wrapped by Avneet who easily won the final two games for a 6-0 win.

In the second set, Avneet effected an early break and held a 3-0 lead, though Faisal did manage to hold the next game, before his opponent won three more unanswered games for the title.
