RERA, BBS in deal for independent observer services

The Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) and the Bahrain Bar Society (BBS) yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to provide Independent Observer services. As per the deal, approved members of the Bar Society will provide Independent Observer services to property owners, owners associations and parties involved in forming Owners’ Associations in buildings and developments with common areas or shared amenities and where service charges are payable.

The role of the Independent Observer may be requested if property owners, RERA or parties with an interest in the joint property require independent confirmation that all procedures and processes regarding the calling and holding of owners’ association meetings are fully compliant with Law 27 of 2017 and other relevant regulations.

Speaking at the MOU signing, Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, CEO of the Real Estate Regulatory Authority said: “The signing of this agreement with such a distinguished body as the Bahrain Bar Society indicates the importance RERA places on having properly constituted Owners Associations’.

Hassan Ahmed Bedaiwi, Chairman of the Bahrain Bar Society said, “We look forward to providing this very important service to property owners and investors in Bahrain’.
