BCFC Strengthens Digital Infrastructure and Customer Experience with eKey 2.0 Integration via Sahel App

Bahrain Commercial Facilities Company (BCFC) has announced the successful technical integration of eKey 2.0, Bahrain's national digital identity framework, into its Sahel App platform, as part of its efforts to modernise digital infrastructure, enhance service quality and deliver seamless technology-driven experiences for customers.

The company said the integration of eKey 2.0, which is built on internationally recognised digital identity standards, enables the replacement of legacy authentication methods with a streamlined biometric-based access framework. Through facial recognition technology and eKYC-driven data retrieval, customers can now complete onboarding and authentication processes more quickly and accurately.

BCFC noted that the new system helps reduce the risk of identity fraud and unauthorised access while ensuring compliance with the requirements of the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) and Bahrain's Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL). The transition away from password-based authentication also strengthens the security of the company's digital channels.

Commenting on the milestone, Ali Al Marzooq, Chief Technology Officer at BCFC, said the integration of eKey 2.0 into the Sahel App represents an important step in the company's digital infrastructure roadmap.

"Our focus was on building a more reliable, efficient and future-ready technology stack that serves our customers better and integrates seamlessly with Bahrain's national digital ecosystem. The result is a faster, more accurate and more compliant customer journey, and a platform we can continue to build on as we expand our digital services," he said.
