Chamber Sets New Committee Structure
The Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry Board of Directors, chaired by Chamber Chairman Nabil Khalid Kanoo, reviewed the final stage of forming sector committees for its 31st session.
The board examined candidates for committee chair and membership positions as part of a process that included reviewing committee mandates, setting selection criteria, receiving applications and interviewing candidates.
Mr. Kanoo said the sector committees are a key channel for engaging with the business community and identifying sector needs and challenges. He stressed the importance of producing practical proposals and initiatives that support businesses and strengthen the economic environment.
The number of applicants reached 644, compared with 350 in the previous session, representing an increase of around 84%.
The new structure will include two additional committees focused on pearls, gold and jewellery, and traditional markets. Following approval, the committees will develop work plans based on business needs and the Chamber’s priorities.
Mr. Kanoo said the current session would focus on committee performance, the quality of outputs and measurable impact through regular monitoring and evaluation.
