Arla Foods, the global dairy cooperative behind the beloved Puck® brand, has announced a major €50.9 million investment in its Bahrain production site — a move that cements the Kingdom’s role as a strategic hub for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Known across millions of households for its signature glass-jar packaging and deep blue Puck® label, the spreadable cheese has long been a staple on family tables — from everyday breakfasts to festive Ramadan meals. Demand for the product surges during peak seasons such as Ramadan and back-to-school periods, both of which are expected to coincide in coming years due to the shifting calendar.

To keep up with this growing demand and maintain its market leadership, Arla Foods is boosting its Bahrain facility’s production capacity by 30%, reinforcing its commitment to the region’s consumers and partners.

“We’re proud to offer one of the most loved dairy products in the region and to be part of family moments both ordinary and special,” said Lille Li Valour, Executive Vice President of Arla Foods International. “As demand continues to rise, this investment allows us to meet expectations, maintain product quality, and deliver on our promise to our customers.”

Since acquiring the Bahrain site in 2019, Arla Foods has continually upgraded its facilities, transforming it into the cornerstone of its operations across MENA — the largest international market for the cooperative.

“This expansion is a natural step in our growth journey,” Valour added. “It strengthens our partnerships in the region, delivers value to our farmer-owners, and supports Bahrain’s ambitions to attract investment and promote sustainable industrial development.”

The new investment covers production and warehouse upgrades, the creation of 20 new jobs, and a series of sustainability initiatives — including the installation of solar panels on new rooftops and an improved cooling system that will help reduce carbon emissions per ton of product.

The project officially broke ground in October 2025, with the announcement made during the Gulf Gateway Investment Forum 2025 in Bahrain — highlighting Arla’s long-term commitment to supporting local industry growth and advancing the region’s food manufacturing sector.

With a blend of innovation, sustainability, and heritage, Arla Foods continues to shape the dairy landscape — one Puck® jar at a time.
