The Foreign Affairs, Defence, and National Security Committee of the Shura Council, chaired by Dr. Ali Al Rumaihi, has emphasised the crucial role of enhancing economic and security collaboration among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations.

This emphasis aligns with the 43rd anniversary of the GCC’s founding, highlighting the organisation’s significant contributions to regional stability, prosperity, and development.

The committee paid tribute to the historic initiative begun by the GCC’s founding leaders, whose vision has shaped the group since its inception in 1981.

The GCC has grown into a significant regional body, advocating collective measures for progress, and prosperity.

It has been a key pillar for the unity, stability, and sovereignty of the Gulf states, safeguarding the accomplishments of their citizens.

Consistent advancement

In an era of heightened interconnectedness, the bonds between the GCC states are both profound and enduring.

The committee observed how shared aspirations and sustained progress across various sectors have illuminated the organisation’s capacity for consistent advancement, notwithstanding global and regional challenges.

This fortitude has earned the GCC respect and acknowledgement on the international stage, realising the founders’ aspiration to enhance and expand relations for the benefit of its member countries and their citizens. The committee highlighted the GCC’s success in achieving coordination, unity, and harmony among its members across all domains.

This has resulted in stronger solidarity and reinforced connections among their peoples.

Collective accomplishments

The committee also recognised the increased political, economic, and military stature of the GCC states on both regional and international platforms, attributable to their collective accomplishments.

These encompass significant achievements in political, military, and economic cooperation, as well as the launch of joint initiatives in various developmental fields. As the GCC approaches its 44th year, the determination to intensify economic and security collaboration remains a key aim.

This continuous focus on partnerships and collaborative endeavours will undoubtedly pave the way for a more prosperous and secure future for the region.
