Teamwork pays off for Bahrain

The Kingdom’s developmental accomplishments are the fruitful outcome of Team Bahrain’s commitment to teamwork.

This was emphasised by Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa. He asserted that Team Bahrain always gives top priority to the interests of the nation and the citizens while devising plans, initiatives and strategies.

The citizens are always the ultimate goal of the comprehensive development process, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Shaikh Salman made the statements while submitting detailed data and information about the draft law approving the state’s general budget for the two fiscal years 2023-2024. It was approved by the Cabinet on March 27, to the legislative branch during his meeting with the Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, and Shura Council Chairman, Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, in the presence of Parliament Affairs Minister, Ghanim bin Fadhl Al Buainain.

He indicated that while preparing the draft of 2023-2024 state budget, certain principles and goals had been taken into account. The most important of these were maintaining financial stability and positive economic growth, creating more promising opportunities for citizens, and developing financial and economic support programmes.

They are aimed at efficiently directing subsidies to eligible citizens, in addition to the commitment to achieving the objectives of the Fiscal Balance Programme by achieving a balance between revenues and expenditures while controlling public spending and diversifying sources of revenues, as well as continuing to enhance the performance, quality and sustainability of government services.

He reiterated the Finance and National Economy Ministry’s determination to enhance cooperation and joint work with the legislative branch to complete the draft general budget for the fiscal years 2023-2024, in a way that would contribute to accelerating economic development towards more progress and prosperity, highlighting the importance of unifying national efforts and building on previous achievements to better serve the nation and the citizens.

First joint meeting

The executive and legislative branches held their first joint meeting to discuss a draft law approving the state’s budget for the fiscal years 2023-2024.

The draft law was attached to Decree 34/2023, which was referred to the Shura and representatives’ councils in accordance with the constitutional and legal frameworks, following the approval of the Cabinet.

The meeting was chaired by Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Speaker of the Shura Council, and Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.
