Deceased Filipino doctor 'a kind soul'
The Filipino doctor who died recently after being run over by a fourteen-wheeler on Budaiya highway near Jidhafs was remembered as generous and kind person by her Islamic studies partners.
Dr. Mary Ann Ibrahim, Paediatrician at Bahrain International Hospital IBH, was an active member of Discover Islam Centre, they said. The woman who was believed to have arrived in Bahrain during February 2012, was an Islamic studies student at the centre since last two months.
Reaching to the teachers and colleagues of the deceased was a difficult task, as they were in a severe state of shock that followed her sudden demise. Her direct instructor, Jaffar, didn’t come to work after hearing the sad news on Thursday.
Speaking to DT News, a couple of the centre’s preachers and teachers who preferred to maintain their anonymity said, she used to visit every Sunday and Thursday. Her absence on Thursday was obvious. We have known her as a lonely person. She had no relatives here in Bahrain and as far as we know, she had no children back in the Philippines.”
She added, “She was the kindest new member at the centre and she gained the love of all teachers and students in a short period. Since she joined two months back, she would always come with cakes, food and snacks to all members of the centre.”
The members said that they came to know about the sad demise of Dr. Mary Ann Ibrahim through a widespread video of the run-over incident.
