Prince Salman holds meeting with TRA board of directors

The Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa yesterday met the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, Kamal Ahmed, and the Board of Directors of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), at Gudaibiya Palace.

During the meeting, Prince Salman highlighted the role the Kingdom has played in developing telecommunications over the past decade, as seen recently when the International Telecommunications Union presented Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa with the Award for Sustainable Development in ICT.

Prince Salman directed the Ministry and the TRA to complete the fourth National ICT Sector Development Plan as quickly as possible, and emphasised that further expanding the ICT sector is a key priority within the government’s economic strategy.

The Crown Prince added that the successful development of Bahrain’s ICT sector has been underpinned by private sector participation and investment, which has enhanced competition and driven up standards for consumers.

The TRA Board of Directors welcomed the importance Prince Salman attaches to the Kingdom’s ICT sector, and reiterated their commitment to working with the government.
