Three of Bahrain1Racing’s top drivers are amongst the favourites to take the victory this weekend in the Pro Mod class of the NGK NTK NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway in Charlotte.

Bahrain1’s Justin Bond, twotime defending NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series world champion Stevie Jackson and Bahrain Pro Mod champion Khalid Al Balooshi are all set to compete in the meeting, which is a part of the 2021 season on the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) in the US.

The race is the third event of this year’s NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series. Bahrain1Racing is owned by His Majesty the King’s personal representative His Highness Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa. Bond was the victor in the previous event of the season held earlier this month at Atlanta Dragway.

There, he beat Jackson on a holeshot in the final round with a quicker reaction time. Speaking ahead of this weekend’s action, Bond was quoted as saying: “I would say the biggest thing for our success is we’ve got a team that never gives up. This team has had that ability to keep making runs and keep moving forward, and that makes the car more predictable.

That allows us to just worry about the race and not have to worry about anything else.” He added: “I’m looking forward to it.

I’m going to take what’s in front of me and realise that I can make some mistakes, but so can everyone else. The thing about drag racing is you have to be prepared to beat everyone there.

I’m not going to let racing in a four-wide event make me shy. “I’m able to go out there and have fun, and I’ve got a good rapport with the crew and team. It’s kind of like the more you do something, the more comfortable you get with it.

“We’re just dealing with one lap at a time and we’re not worried about points or all that. We’re just trying to get through each round and when it’s your day to win a race, it’s your day.” The final round of the Pro Mod eliminations in the Charlotte meeting will be held tomorrow, US time.
