Holy month begins as moon sighted

Millions of Muslims around the globe will begin the holy month of Ramadan today, as the moon-sighting panel yesterday confirmed the successful sighting of the crescent in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs extended congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, members of the royal family, the Bahraini people as well as the Arab and Islamic nations.

Leadership exchange greetings

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received Ramadan greetings from His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.

Both leaders extended heartfelt congratulations to HM the King, wishing him, the Bahraini people as well as the Arab and Islamic nations many happy returns.

The leaders also exchanged cables of Ramadan good wishes with leaders of GCC, Arab and Islamic states. Separately, the HM the King, HRH the Prime Minister and HRH Crown Prince received cables of Ramadan good wishes from senior members of the Royal Family, Representatives Council Speaker, Shura Council Chairman, ministers, senior officials, dignitaries, members of the Representatives and Shura Councils, municipal councillors, governors, Bahraini ambassadors abroad, Heads of the diplomatic missions accredited to Bahrain, Presidents of societies, sport associations and clubs and citizens.
