Changing dynamics of social media discussed at forum

The new careers opened up by the social media sector were highlighted at a forum attended by experts. Marketing and communication experts stressed the way the social media careers have been evolving over a period of time.

Speaking to Tribune, Lulwa Sami Ebrahim, Acting Director of Communications and Marketing at Information and eGovernment Authority, said, “As a person working in the field of communications, social media has impacted the way we communicate. We depend on a lot on digital campaigns as it is more cost effective.”

“Social media today is considered a part of our communication strategies or plans for business sectors be it private or public be it large corporations or SMEs or for small home business. “No longer do we now look for individuals in writing press release or with good media relations background but instead we are hiring individuals that along with engaging skills to address the cyber world are good with data analysis skills for infographics display, have good eye to change data, create engaging and interactive content to address the public, good storytelling skills which are further able to sell the service or product.”
