Bahrain-Merida source of inspiration to Bahrainis

Manama : Bahrain-Merida Cycling Team organised a 50-kilometre race yesterday in the Kingdom with the participation of more than 200 cyclists. 

Flagged off by the President of Bahrain Cycling Association HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the race covered several areas of the Southern Governorate. 

Commenting, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, Bahrain Olympic Committee President and RCO Chairman, affirmed that Bahrain-Merida Cycling Team would be the best ambassador to the Kingdom in upcoming tournaments. 

“We will participate in the coming tournaments, and our eyes set on the podium. We will do our utmost to achieve the goals we have set since the official inauguration of the team. Bahrain Merida Cycling Team has a solid lineup and can make achievements,” Shaikh Nasser said. 

“The race tour which was organised by Bahrain Merida Cycling Team was beneficial for all the participants, especially since it witnessed the participation of more than 200 cyclists of different nationalities,” Shaikh Nasser added, pointing out that Bahraini cyclists have a great interest in this sport. 

Shaikh Nasser said that the aim of organising such tours is to promote practising sport in the Bahraini society in order to create a culture of friendship, sports spirit and a healthy lifestyle.  Shaikh Khalid extended his appreciation to Shaikh Nasser for his continued support to the cycling sport, stating that the participating of this number of cyclists in this competition proves that the race was a great success.
