Ample meat supply makes hoteliers elated

Manama

Unlike previous years, hoteliers in the Kingdom are relieved, as they have got sufficient supply of meat during this Eid season. Earlier, restaurant owners used to face tough time to meet their meat requirements due to heavy demand in the market.

Lauding the officials, Mohammed Ashraf Hassan, owner of Rose Water Restaurant, located near Macro Mart in West Riffa, said the officials had ensured availability of enough meat stock in the market.

Usually, his restaurant registers business of BD250 per day. During weekends, it reaches up to BD280. “But during this Eid, the business has crossed three-fold of the regular profit,” he said.

According to Hassan, same rush will continue on the second and third day of Eid. “The meat requirement will also increase according to rise in business. Moreover, people who prefer meat products like goozi, mandi, machboos and biriyani during Eid season will be on the rise,” he remarked, and added that this year hoteliers received enough meat, including mutton, beef and chicken.

 Eid fervour

The Eid fervour started on Thursday night itself, immediately after most of the media broke the news of Eid. Most of the people remained outdoors until late night on Thursday, sharing the joy of Eid. On the other hand, restaurants, men’s hair dressing saloons and women’s beauty parlours also remained open until late night, catering to the demands of the people.

The sweet shops also experienced heavy rush on the eve of Eid. Owner of one of the leading sweet shops in Bukhawawa, Riffa commented that there had been a heavy demand for local sweets. “Most of our products finished within a few hours. We had to work for extra hours to meet the demands of our customers,” he added.
