Bahrain continues to support Palestinian people's rights

New York : Foreign Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa has conveyed the greetings and wishes of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness the Prime Minister, Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, to Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas.

This came as the Palestinian President received the Minister of Foreign Affairs on the sidelines of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 72) in New York City.

President Abbas entrusted the minister with conveying his wishes and thanks to the leadership of Bahrain for supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

The minister affirmed that supporting the Palestinian cause at all regional and international forums has been and will continue to be one of the constants of the foreign policy of the Kingdom of Bahrain. He added that such conviction stems from the Kingdom’s firm belief in the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, particularly their right to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, according to the principle of the two-states solution, relevant international legitimacy resolutions and Arab Peace Initiative.

The minister hailed the continuous efforts exerted by President Abbas at regional and international levels, affirming the Kingdom of Bahrain’s support for all the efforts seeking to resolve the Palestinian cause in line with international principles and resolutions. He also hailed the efforts seeking international protection for the Palestinian people and for the Islamic and Christian sanctities, particularly Al Aqsa Mosque, and to halt the Israeli practices which contravene international norms and laws.
